UPDATE ON VISAYAS EARTHQUAKE

It has been two (2) years and six (6) months that this website was closed. Many were disappointed with the closure but we have to keep up with the fast changing technology - facebook and twitter, among others.

With the remaining one month and a half of my stint as Director for Visayas, I have been ruminative as to the manner of my “consummatum est” in LBPEA. Thus here I am re-opening the website pro hac vice for my grand exit.

We have witnessed through various media channels the 7.2 magnitude earthquake which wrecked havoc in Bohol area where the epicenter was situated. Thanks God however there is no reported casualty so far in the case of our fellow Landbankers there.

I just talked to Greg of Bohol Lending Center. He told me that the bank is closed at the moment, there is no electricity and a few employees were allowed entry to the bank premises only after its structural soundness was checked.

Cebu was also affected and I have had a phone conversation with LBPEA Regional Vice-Governor Twinkle of Cebu Osmena Branch. She informed me that there are still aftershocks and the employees of Cebu Osmena Branch, Cebu Lending Center, Cebu Accounting Center and AOCs are now at the parking area. Entry to the bank premises was not allowed because the PMED Engineers have yet to check the structural soundness of the building due to presence of numerous cracks.

Cebu Branch will open at 1pm today as it is structurally sound as inspected by the PMED. While Plaza Independencia Branch housed at Cebu Capitol opened this morning but will be closing this afternoon since it was declared structurally unsafe.
